NH SEACOAST GREENWAY

NH Seacoast Greenway (NHSG) is a
proposed
non-motorized, trail from the Massacussetts
border connecting with the
Coastal Trails, to
the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, connecting
with Maine's
Eastern Trail.

The New Hampshire Seacoast Greenway will
be a leg of the
East Coast Greenway, a 3000
mile trail currently being constructed  from
Key West, FL to Calais, ME.
For now, the on-road route, an
incredibly scenic route following
Route 1A & 1B along the NH coast has
been defined as the current NHSG
route.
It is virtually all on road. Most of this
route has a shoulder, but some
sections do not. The project Advisory
Committee has approved the design of
the signage, and they were installed
this spring (2008).
The proposed Off-Road Trail will follow the old Eastern
Rail Road corridor beginning in Seabrook and ending in
Portsmouth.
The trail from Seabrook to the Post Office in Hampton
is in NHDOT hands, but beyond that point it belongs to
Guilford Transportation Industries. Hopefully, some day
it will end up in the public's hands.

    Another aspect, is turning a
underused asset of rusty rails and
    old ties into a GREEN
    TRANSPORTATION  CORRIDOR.
We can give our selfs and the
future generations a safe place to
meet, and have fun biking, walking
or x-country skiing with family and
friends.  Another facet is to use it
as a transportation route to the
    store, library, or work.
Lovers and runners -
something for all
